About Elise

Elise Preiss is originally from France. An avid sailor and a maker at heart, Elise approaches her work like she would the ocean: with a great deal of preparation and humility, and confesses that sometimes “you just have to let the material speak.”

After graduating with a BFA in Product Design from Otis College of Art & Design, Elise accepted a summer apprenticeship in France with master blacksmith Guy Pendanx. Her love of metal was awoken. She returned to the U.S. and earned an MFA with an emphasis in metal from California State University Long Beach. Her work has been exhibited at various venues across the United States including the Metal Museum in Memphis, Arrowmont School of Arts and Craft, and The Carnegie in Covington, Kentucky.

Elise lives and works in Los Angeles.
